Vodafone slashes roaming charges

Telco Vodafone has said it will trial a price cut for data roaming charges for customers travelling to New Zealand.

The company has said it will drop the charges from $10 to $2 per megabyte. The company will also slash roaming rates for calls, according to head of post-pay Jason Blair.

“Our first priority has been to focus on the most common destinations for Australian business travellers and holiday-makers and allow Australians travelling in these countries to enjoy great rates,” Blair said in a statement.

“These new rates enable post-paid Vodafone customers to use their mobile without incurring a roaming premium charge for standard voice calls,” said Blair.

The company is also allowing Three customers to access the “Three Like Home” benefit in countries including Britain, Ireland, Italy and Hong Kong. This allows customers to pay rates for calls and text messages similar to what they pay in Australia.
