Fox has announced new features for its Blu-ray discs, including remote device accessibility and DVD-like memory capabilities.
The remote accessibility feature will allow users to control their Blu-ray player through a networked device such as an iPhone, and also let their phone play content from the discs.
This content will include the Live Lookup feature, which will let users look up actor and film information on IMDB.com, a movie database. Live Lookup will be able to run while the discs feature is playing.
In addition, Fox says it will minimise disc loading times by integrating them into the preview content, so the disc’s feature will load while previews are playing.
Memory capabilities will also let users eject the discs and later pick up where they left off. The new features are currently in development, with no release date set.
