Anthony Pratt, son of the late paper and packaging billionaire Richard Pratt, has taken control of his family’s company Visy Industries after the sudden departure of its managing director.
John Murphy, who was appointed managing director in the wake of Visy’s cartel scandal, announced his resignation this week.
“The family regrets John’s decision, but we respect his wishes and his view that he has achieved the short-term goals he and my father set for Visy at the time of his appointment,” a statement from Anthony Pratt to Visy’s staff said.
Anthony Pratt will now take the role of executive chairman, a position formerly held by his father.
Anthony has also brought back former Visy executive Chris Daly as chief operating officer.
