To the naked eye Müvbox appears to be a shipping container sitting in Montréal’s old shipping port.
But hit a button and 90 seconds later the 2.5 metre-deep, six metre long container transforms into an ultra chic solar powered restaurant complete with kitchen, wood-fired pizza oven, covered patio and bistro tables to serve 28 guests.
The restaurant is made out of a reused shipping container, recycled tires for flooring, solar panels that provide 40% of the restaurant’s energy, and are easily shipped around the world by land or sea.
Müvbox restaurant is just one example of the adaptability of shipping containers.
The business concept is to adapt industrial containers into a commercial space, such as retailers, budget accommodation, restaurants and pop-up nightclubs. The space is priced at $US150,000 per unit.
