Small mobile company BigTinCan has created an application they claim will lower customers’ phone bill costs by 50% for iPhone, PC, Blackberry, Android or WinMobile users calling in Australia and overseas.
The mobile company uses a callback system, routing customers through its own network, calling them back and connecting them to the party whom they are calling.
The company makes its profit by diverting the more expensive mobile connections through the network, and redirecting it as a cheaper fixed line connection.
BigTinCan is able to offer rates of 30 cents per minute by this system for local and international calls to a fixed line or mobile and 10 cents per SMS.
The only noticeable difference is a short delay while the call is being connected.
