Finnish mobile handset manufacturer Nokia has opened its answer to the Apple App Store earlier than expected, with Nokia users able to download applications immediately.
The “Ovi Store” allows Nokia handset users, regardless of what operating system or software they are using, to download applications for their mobile handset from the store.
Nokia users can access the store by entering a “download” feature in their current handset, although the company says that not all handsets may be compatible with the store.
Currently the store features paid apps, movie trailers, utilities and all types of software similar to those soon in the Apple App Store.
The company says it will begin to introduce the store to Nokia users in more countries over the next few months, and more programs will become available for download.
