Users of Research in Motion’s BlackBerry devices are now able to more easily connect with their Facebook profiles after the social networking giant updated its application for the device.
The new version of the app allows users to send and receive messages, post on users’ “walls” and add new friends to profiles, but in a new move allows users to have chat conversations appear as a separate page.
The new version also allows integration between BlackBerry contact lists and Facebook friends. When a call is received from someone in the Facebook friends category, that person’s profile can appear on the screen.
Users can also integrate events the user is attending in the Facebook profile with the BlackBerry calendar.
The Facebook application comes after the Apple App Store’s version proved immensely popular with iPhone and iPod Touch users. The RIM App World is just one of many application markets being released by smartphone manufactures.
