A new business in the US allows users to make money by sharing cars out to people who have no vehicle of their own.
RelayRides, which is set to launch in the Baltimore area soon, has users register their vehicle with the company which then has it inspected by a qualified mechanic. A device is installed which allows users to access it without keys.
The car’s owner then sets the rental price, along with details about where the car will be picked up, and at what times it is available.
Users then rent a car by the hour, or by the day, according to the set scheduled system. It is expected owners could earn several thousand dollars from the scheme by renting their car out for an average 20 hours per week.
