This year SmartCompany and StartupSmart have big plans for International Women’s Day and we need your help.
International Women’s Day (IWD) is celebrated each year on March 8 to commemorate the women’s rights movement, and to shine a light on the significant change that is still needed to achieve global gender parity.
This year’s IWD theme is #PressforProgress. With the world’s attention on movements such as #MeToo and #TimesUp throughout 2017 and into 2018, the goal of the United Nations-backed day this year is to harness this growing momentum for “advocacy, activism and support” to create a more gender inclusive society.
As SmartCompany and StartupSmart, we are committed to supporting everyone in small business and startups, but recent research showed just 13% of media articles about business quote women. We want to change this and ensure Australian women in business get the visibility they deserve. We want to celebrate the businesses these women are building and leading, the relationships they are forming, and the essential contributions they make to our communities.
To do this, we are putting together a major editorial showcase, to be published on March 8, which will feature Australian women who inspire and support the careers of those around them. We want you to nominate women who inspire you or whom you admire and respect for possible inclusion in the showcase via this online survey.
You can nominate as many women as you want and share the survey in your own networks. The answers supplied in the survey will be used in our showcase, so please note that by filling out a nomination form, you are agreeing to the details being published.
So, what are you waiting for? Click here and tell us about the inspiring women at your workplace and in your communities.
(And don’t forget to join in the conversation on Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and Instagram by tagging @SmartCompany and using the #IWD2018 hashtag).
