A manager working for tech giant Apple has been charged with receiving bribes in return for leaking company secrets to Asian manufacturers, Reuters reports.
Paul Devine bas been accused by Federal police of accepting kickbacks from six separate companies, all based in the south-east Asian region.
The San Joe Mercury News has also reported Devine faces charges accusing him of accepting over $US1 million in payments over a period of several years.
“Apple is committed to the highest ethical standards in the way we do business,” Apple spokesman Steve Dowling told the Mercury. “We have zero tolerance for dishonest behaviour inside or outside the company.”
It is understood Devine is being accused of using those secrets to help those companies obtain favourable contracts with Apple. Devine is also accused of sharing his money with a partner.
