Santos (ASX: STO) has reported a 13% increase in oil production and a 50% increase in revenue for the three months to March 31.
The Adelaide-based company, which is Australia’s largest domestic gas producer, produced 12.4 million barrels of oil on the back of output from new assets in Western Australia and Indonesia.
The 50% jump in sales for the first quarter, from $501 million in 2011 to $754 million, resulted from higher oil and gas prices and a lift in sales volumes.
Santos CEO David Knox said the company was beginning to reap the benefits of its successful 2011 start-up projects.
Knox said project delivery remained a focus, with liquefied natural gas projects in Papua New Guinea and Queensland due to start production in 2014 and 2015 respectively.
