Gold medal favourites Australia finished fourth in the men’s 4x100m freestyle relay this morning.
It was proof, if anyone needed it, that cockiness just never washes in the pool at the Olympic Games.
Led by the supremely confident James “The Missile” Magnussen, who had assured the crowd that winning their heat was was “easy”, and that the team would go even faster in the final, the team was in shock after limping home in fourth place.
