Australia and China team up for infrastructure improvements

The Australian and Chinese governments have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to enhance co-operation in infrastructure construction.

Infrastructure Minister Anthony Albanese met the visiting Chinese Commerce Minister, Chen Deming, to sign the agreement.

“Ultimately this is about creating more jobs, tapping more economic opportunities and delivering better infrastructure,” Albanese said, according to the Australian Financial Review.

The MOU will result in closer co-operation in the planning of projects, exchanging information on investment opportunities and technical expertise, training and education and joint infrastructure projects.

The agreement states the two countries “will safeguard the domestic legal rights of any personnel dispatched as part of activities initiated under this MOU”.
