The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) has filed federal court proceedings against three energy companies over their door-to-door energy selling practices.
The consumer watchdog alleges AGL, Alinta and Australian Green Credits engaged in misleading and deceptive conduct, and that AGL Sales and marketing company CPM Australia made false representations to consumers.
The ACCC has also proceedings against AGL South Australia, Neighbourhood Energy (part of the Alinta group) and its former marketing company Australian Green Credits for allegedly failing to leave a premises at the request of a resident.
Concerns were also raised about the salespeople failing to clearly identify the name of their company.
The proceedings have been filed on the federal court’s fast-track list, with a court date set for late May.
Alinta and AGL were unavailable for comment at the time of publication.
