SCO Recruitment

Larissa Robertson, SCO Recruitment

Despite never running a business before, Larissa Robertson took the brave decision to take the plunge in order to save 180 of her colleagues’ jobs.

Robertson was working at a large not-for-profit that was facing financial doom. After her rescue plan was rejected by the board, she bought the remnants of the company from liquidators in order to form SCO Recruitment and a separate not-for-profit property maintenance division.

In just over a year, SCO has racked up revenue of nearly $8.5 million, putting it second in the Start-up 50 at last week’s StartupSmart Awards. Robertson talks to StartupSmart editor Oliver Milman about how she did it.
