Speed up browsing in Firefox

Tech TricksInternet users often complain about slow browsing speeds, but they might not know their own internet software is the problem. Here are a few tips on how to improve your browsing speed in Firefox:

  • If you’ve ever used the bookmark feature, you’ll know you can add keywords to each bookmark. This means you can just type a keyword into the URL bar, press enter and the program will take you there – simply add keywords by left-clicking a bookmark, then pressing “properties”.
  • You can also search using the URL bar – simply type in the search terms you want and the browser will do the rest.
  • To open links in new tabs, you can click the scroll button on your mouse.
  • Go to the Tools bar, then click Options, and then click the Applications tab. This will allow you to set various programs for links – for example, if you want to open an email in Outlook, rather than Thunderbird.
  • Use keyboard shortcuts, such as pressing the alt key, and arrow keys for navigation, or undoing a closed tab by pressing Ctrl + Shift + T.
