Prioritise your great new ideas

If you’re one of the thousands of entrepreneurs coming back to work this week, you are probably arriving to the office brimming with new ideas. That’s because after spending a few days relaxing and not being at work, you couldn’t stop thinking of great ideas… and now you’re raring to go.

Fair enough too. But before you rush headlong into 2011 and try and get everything done in the first two days, spend a few hours sitting down and prioritising your goals and tasks for the first few months of the year.

What issues need to be addressed first? Which ideas are going to generate new sales, and which are designed to improve internal processes and policies?

What resources will each idea need? Who will have responsibility for following through with the idea? What will you put in place to measure the success of that project?

Answer these questions, make a list of priorities and get your team on board. Only then will you ensure that you actually manage to turn your great ideas into great initiatives.
