The Apple 3G iPhone has beaten its competitors for the amount of mobile web usage recorded on the device, with AdMob figures for April 2009 revealing the iPhone is accounting for 8% of all smartphone handset sales and 43% of smartphone mobile web activity.
The second most popular device for web-usage was not actually a phone, but the Apple iPod Touch, accounting for 11% of web usage.
Google’s Android operating system is gaining ground, having only been released in the last 12 months, with 1% of the market and 3% of mobile web use.
The Symbian, Research in Motion and Windows Mobile operating systems all lagged behind.
