A battle royale for the custom of smartphone users across the country will begin today when the new BlackBerry Bold is launched to Australian customers.
A battle royale for the custom of smartphone users across the country will begin today when the new BlackBerry Bold is launched to Australian customers.
The Bold – so named for the vibrancy of its half VGA resolution, 480 x 320 pixel colour display – is not the smallest BlackBerry ever, weighing in at 136 grams and 114/66/15mm dimensions.
But the slightly larger size means slightly easier to use keys on the Bold’s qwerty keyboard. And it doesn’t detract from the device’s appearance – as you can see from the picture, it looks pretty darn cool.
Here are a few of the Bold’s other specs, according to the BlackBerry website:
- Approximate battery life up to 13 days days (standby time), up to five hours talk time.
- Expandable memory – support for microSD card, 1GB on-board + 128 MB Flash.
- Wireless modem and wireless email.
- Email integration works with a wide range of email servers.
- 2 megapixel camera.
- Wireless network info: Wireless network Wi-Fi; 802.11a/b/g/ Europe/Asia Pacific; 1800MHz GSM/GPRS networks/ Europe/Asia Pacific; 900MHz GSM/GPRS networks.
All that leaves out the one question many will be asking – how much will it cost? Unfortunately we are yet to find out the answer to that question in Australia, but we do know that Telstra, Optus, Vodafone and 3 will be the device’s Australian distributors.
