Let’s take a step back in time. As part of Google’s 10th birthday celebrations, the internet giant has made its earliest search index available for users to browse.

Although the earliest searches only extend as far back as January 2001, Google says the gimmick is just a bit of fun to celebrate a decade of searching the web.

In a statement, Google says: “Earlier versions of our index aren’t readily accessible. But we did still want to offer users a chance to search an older index as a way of looking back at web history, and the January 2001 index is the best we can do. We hope you enjoy it.”

In January 2001, there was no Facebook, MySpace or iPhone, but early versions of the BlackBerry made an appearance. Several older versions of popular websites are also available for viewing.

Have fun and search Google 2001 for yourself.
