Apple has moved to counteract the explosion in cheap iPod Shuffle clones by releasing a 2GB version of the Shuffle and slashing the price of its 1GB version, iTWire reports.
In Australia, the 1GB Shuffle is on the shelves now for $65, while the 2GB Shuffle will go for $89 when it is released – it is likely to hit the shelves in the next month in the US, so no doubt it will come here some time after that.
iTWire says iPod Shuffle has been facing competitive threats from the Shuffle-style devices such as Creative Zen Stone and the Sandisk Sansa Clip featuring either cheaper pricing, more memory, more features, or some combination of all three.
