Telstra has announced it will slash 800 senior managers, middle managers and support staff and restructure of its BigPond business.
BigPond’s internet access functions will be integrated into Telstra’s main business, while a new division, to be known as Telstra Media, has been created to oversee the integration of Telstra’s online and mobile content businesses.
A Telstra spokesman says the head of Telstra Media, current BigPond group managing director Justin Milne, will have “visibility and oversight” over all of Telstra’s media and content businesses, including parts of BigPond’s online and mobile businesses, websites within Sensis and Telstra’s websties in China.
“We want to keep all of what we have in media integrated and working together so we can leverage technology and experience and knowledge within the group,” the spokesman says.
