Using a portable toilet at a festival or at construction sites might not be the most pleasant of experiences, but credit card company Visa is trying to improve things by sponsoring luxury port-a-loos.
The multinational credit company recently hired luxury portable toilets for the exclusive use of its cardholders at a San Francisco arts and music festival.
The facilities offered not only high-quality toilet access, but a private bar and free towel.
The offering is an example of what marketers call a “brand butler” service – offering consumers relevant and free assistance, which results in publicity and brand recognition.
It seems to be catching on, as business website springwise.com suggests putting “your money where your customers are, in their real-world lives, and give them a hand”.
