A new website is trying to make a business out of putting small retailers in touch with a network of more than 40,000 small suppliers and distributors, Springwise reports.
The ProductBlazer website, produced by New York company Initiate Commerce, pulls information from the thousands of small business websites on the net to create useful lists of product manufacturers, wholesalers and distributors, organised by product category.
This is particularly handy for suppliers, because it means that rather than having to provide and update product lists all the time, ProductBlazer’s web-spiders will just go straight to the businesses’ websites, find the relevant information and incorporate this into their supplier lists.
Accessing the service is free for retailers, who can also save supplier lists through the site for later reference. Suppliers can get a basic listing for free or pay an additional fee for better placement.
