Australia’s daylight saving hotchpotch

No wonder mobile phones and computers are getting confused – the ever-changing mix of time zones across Australia is difficult.

Over the weekend many people found themselves an hour behind the game when some mobile phones and PCs automatically wound themselves forward an hour as though daylight saving had ended.

Unfortunately, due to a Government change in the timing of the switch-over, they adjusted time a week too early.

Australia is now divided into three different daylight saving zones: Queensland and Northern Territory, which don’t have daylight saving; NSW, Victoria and South Australia, which switch over next Sunday, and Western Australia, which finished daylight saving yesterday.
