Samsung has launched a TV model called the Smart Signage TV, which is designed to be used as an out-of-the-box marketing display capable of dividing the display into multiple areas showing TV content, video, images or text.
The LED TV plays promotional materials through an embedded media player that can be updated either over Wi-Fi or by USB from a smartphone or computer.
Bundled with the TV is a computer program called MagicInfo Express, along with an app for Apple or Android smartphones called MagicInfo Mobile, which updates the promotional material shown by the TV.
The display also has a 1920 x 1080 Full-HD resolution, including Antenna In, HDMI, Composite, D-Sub, PC Audio In and RS232C In. It also comes with a wall-mount kit and a three-year warranty covering in-store use.
It comes after the South Korean consumer electronics giant demonstrated how smart TVs can be used as a form of digital signage by small businesses as a key part of its display at the International CES trade show in January.
