Although Apple only unveiled the iPhone 6 at the start of September, a remarkable 42% of users in the UK have already damaged their smartphones, according to a survey released over the weekend.
The survey, carried out by mobile commerce service VoucherCloud and published on Trusted Reviews, asked 2174 iPhone 6 owners in the UK over the age of 25 about the state of their devices. Respondents were able to nominate more than one type of damage.
Even though the devices have been on the market for less than two months, a remarkable 54% of those reporting damage say they have already scratched or cracked their screen.
By comparison, despite the furore over ‘bendgate’, only 48% of those reporting a damaged device say their iPhone 6 was bending or warping.
Water damage was another common iPhone 6 malady, reported by an astounding 41% of iPhone 6 owners.
Other causes of damage included damaged buttons, reported on 29% of devices, and software issues on 18% of devices.
