Microsoft making OneDrive cloud storage unlimited for Office 365 subscribers

Microsoft has again boosted the amount of cloud storage it offers, with the company now offering unlimited OneDrive storage to Office 365 customers as competition in the cloud marketplace further intensifies.

The upgrade, which comes at no additional cost, will begin rolling out immediately for Office 365 Home, Personal, and University customers.

The upgrade will also be added to upgrade roadmap for OneDrive For Business, and will roll out to First Release customers next year.

It comes on top of an upgrade OneDrive for Business, Office 365 ProPlus accounts in April that saw storage limits increase from 25 gigabytes to 1 terabyte of storage per user.

This was followed in June by the basic storage limit for OneDrive being boosted to 15 gigabytes, up from 7 gigabytes previously, while Office 365 Home, Personal and University accounts were boosted to one terabyte of storage per person.

The news is a further blow to standalone cloud storage providers such as DropBox, and comes just 24 hours after the tech giant launched two new Australian datacentres as part of its Azure cloud computing service
