Apple rolls out the perks for its top talent

Apple has unveiled a host of new perks for its employees in a bid to retain and attract top talent,Fortune reports.

This week, Apple’s head of HR, Denise Young Smith, sent out a company-wide memo outlining new and updated benefits.

They include longer parental leave, education reimbursements for all classes taken by employees, an expanded donation-matching program, subsidised student loan refinancing and full acceleration of stock in the event of an employee’s death.

Two-thirds of Apple’s workforce is made up of hourly employees, many of whom work in the company’s worldwide retail stores.

Young Smith says she’s made it a goal to roll out the benefits to the broader employee base, both hourly and salaried, across as many geographic locations as possible.

Apple is also trying to woo employees with its “wellness center” at its Cupertino, California-based headquarters that gives its employees access to seven doctors, a large team of chiropractors, physical therapists and dieticians.

“We’ve led with products for a long time and we always will,” Young Smith says.

“But we’re at a point where people are really important and experience is really important and how people experience our products is really important.”
