It’s an iClone: Samsung Galaxy Alpha’s “fresh design” features an iPhone-style metal frame

Samsung has unveiled a new smartphone, called the Galaxy Alpha, featuring a suspiciously iPhone-like metal frame, ahead of Apple’s release of the iPhone 6.

The new 4G/LTE smartphone features a 4.7-inch HD Super AMOLED display, runs Android 4.4.4 KitKat, and comes with the option of either a octa core (quad 1.8GHz + quad 1.3GHz) or quad core 2.5GHz processor.

It also includes a 12-megapixel main camera, and 1860 mAh battery, and ac WiFi support.

Aside from the processor, most of the specifications are lower than Samsung’s flagship Galaxy S5. For example, the Galaxy S5 has a 16-megapixel camera, a 5.1-inch display and a 2800 mAh battery.

Despite its physical similarities to iPhone, Samsung officially describes the device as having a “fresh approach to design”.

The announcement of the new smartphone came just one day after iPhone 6 photos leaked ahead of a September launch, with Samsung planning to counter it by announcing new products of its own at the IFA trade show in Germany.
