One of the newer bookkeeping technologies is Xero accounting software which is proving very popular. It does most of what other  popular accounting software do, and of course it’s in the cloud and is subscription based.  The plus of this is that you have no large initial outlays, but the negative is that you can be cut off if you stop paying your subscription.  It does everything from payroll, invoicing, receipting, bulk payments, reconciling your bank account and auto feeds of your bank statements. Plus there is even a mobile phone app.

It works well for small or simple business structures – as long as you do have a decent internet service.
