LG to unveil flagship G3 smartphone later this week, key details accidentally published on its website

South Korean electronics giant LG is set to unveil its new flagship smartphone, dubbed the LG G3, later this week, with key specifications of the device leaking via the company’s UK website.

The specifications, which haven’t officially been released but have already been published on LG’s website, show the device will feature a 5.5-inch display, with a very high resolution of 2560 by 1440 pixels.

According to the leaked specification sheet, the device will also be able to use microSD cards with up to 2 terabytes of storage and include a large 3000 mAh replaceable battery with wireless charging.

The device, with a model number D855, will run Android 4.4 KitKat, and feature a quad-core 2.46 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, which is slightly faster than the 2.3 GHz processor tipped by the Korea Times.

LG announced the smartphone will come with a cover, dubbed the “QuickCircle”. The case features a circular window that will allow users to access basic functions of the device (such as taking calls or photos) without taking the cover off.

The QuickCircle case will come in a range of colours, including metallic black, silk white, shine gold, aqua mint and Indian pink.

The new device will supercede its current flagship, the G2, which was launched at New York’s Lincoln Centre in August of last year.
