Troy Best from Kitovu: My Best Tech

Troy Best is co-founder of Kitovu, a task and project management system purpose made to help teams, agencies, freelancers and consultants manage client work. Best claims most task management systems are based around projects, whereas Kitovu is client-centric.

My favourite piece of tech is Google Apps. I started using Google Apps in 2007 while running a web development firm. It became a key piece of tech in my businesses. The features have improved and it allows me to access synced emails, documents and calendars from any device.

The suite of products includes mail, documents, chat and calendar. Being able to collaborate on documents with colleagues in real time is very efficient. I can access documents and design files from my work and home computers and sharing calendars with colleagues is also very handy.

I provided email hosting as a web developer and saw firsthand how people struggled to sync email between devices as mobile gained became popular. Giving clients the option to host mail in the cloud and sync mail instantly on desktops, laptops, tablets and mobile devices was something many clients found invaluable.

Some organisations to my astonishment still continue to battle on with POP and IMAP email. It was so difficult in my experience to make this work for organisations where staff were accessing mail with multiple devices and setting up new employees was always an issue. I would recommend Google Apps for most organisations. It will make life easier and is one of the best tech productivity decisions an organisation can make.
