Power Players know there are two categories of power: the bullshit kind and the authentic kind. Authentic power is pretty joyful to watch.
Power Players never pretend to have power when they don’t. They know that they will get found out and worse, it will erode the real power that they actually do have.
Example: they might have the power within their own company but they never overstep the mark and pretend the have the power in a client’s company.
When Power Players have absolutely no power at all they revel in it. They make sure everybody knows their power is limited in this area and because they call it, and it makes the Power they do have seem even more powerful.
This is an incredibly important lesson to learn: don’t fake power you do not have. Being honest doesn’t make you weak – it makes you real. And there is undeniable power in that.
