Power Play: Faith isn’t a dirty word

Power Players always have a little faith (thank God). They can’t help themselves. They believe that it’s helpful to believe – especially when things aren’t necessarily going their way and they need all the help they can get.

Power Players know that faith isn’t hokey or cheesy or dewy-eyed. Faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen. That last line (I’m pretty sure) is from the bible.

These days, faith is getting a bad rap. Apparently, it’s for those who don’t know better. Power Players do know better. They don’t look the faith gift-horse in the mouth and they understand that the goodwill that comes with believing can mean the difference between a happy ending and an unhappy one.

When there’s nothing left to do and every card has been played, all that’s left is faith. It isn’t a dirty word and it isn’t naïve. In fact, there’s something pretty terrific about believing a good outcome is possible in the face of evidence that says anything but. Go with it. The very best Power Players always do.
