Investors braced as shares tumble at open

Investors are set for a torrid day of trade with the Australian sharemarket slipping below the critical 4,000-point mark following heavy losses on global markets at the end of last week.

At 10:32am (AEST) the All Ordinaries Index has dropped 1.6% to 4,050 and the benchmark ASX 200 index was matching that loss at 3,999.
