Power Play: Always give it the sleepover test

Even when it sounds like it’s the best idea in the world, Power Players still give it the sleepover test. Not for the small stuff but for the stuff that counts.

Power Players know that even if they absolutely positively love the idea they should keep their mouths closed, think about something else, wake up the next morning and if they still love the idea, it’s a keeper.

It takes an enormous amount of self-control to keep from jumping up and down when you hear the BIG IDEA. But Power Players have learnt this trick. For two reasons: first they get to check that their internal compass is well oiled and working, and second, if it’s a stinky idea they can back out gracefully.

Power Players know that great ideas will still be great ideas after a sleepover test and that bad ideas have a way of dying quickly after a one-night pause.
