An online poll of the most loved and hated tech companies by technoweb blog site Internet Evolution has come up with an interesting result: Apple came close to topping both lists.
Apple came top of the list of most hated technology companies with 30% of the thumbs-down vote, ahead of Microsoft – which, prior to the vote, was the raging favourite to win the most-hated award, on 22%.
But Apple also ranked high on the positive side of the ledger, coming second only to Google in the popularity stakes and ahead of CraigList and Wikipedia.
The lesson appears to be that Apple, more than any other company, stirs the passions of tech-heads and internet users, whether in a positive or negative way. Looks like the long running Mac vs PC wars – fuelled by Apple’s recent clever advertising campaign implicitly poking fun at PC users – will continue to run for some time yet.
