Curved-screen smartphones LG G Flex and Samsung Galaxy Round are suffering from slow sales, according to Korean press reports.
The two new devices, currently only officially available in South Korea, have been widely hyped by the tech media because they are the first devices on the market to feature curved or flexible displays.
However, according to Korea’s Electronics Times News, the two smartphones are only selling at a rate of between 150 and 500 units per day.
This has fallen well short of the industry average of 1000 units per day, which in turn is significantly less than the 5000-10,000 units the companies expect their flagship smartphones to ship.
According to analysts, while consumers are interested in the technology, the interest is failing to translate into sales.
The LG G Flex has an asking price equivalent to $US940 unsubsidised, compared to $A869 Apple charges Australian consumers for the iPhone 5s.
Leading reviewers have also pointed out issues with LG’s P-OLEd screen displaying flat colours.
