The Steve Jobs biopic, Jobs, based on the life of the Apple co-founder, has suffered a disappointing opening weekend box office result in the US.
According to Apple Insider, the film is estimated to have made $US6.7 million in its opening weekend across 2381 screens, with the figure well below the $US8 to $US9 million distributor Open Road Films had been expecting.
The disappointing figures come after Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak slammed actor Ashton Kutcher, who plays Jobs in the film.
“I thought the acting throughout was good. I was attentive and entertained but not greatly enough to recommend the movie. One friend who is in the movie said he didn’t want to watch fiction, so he wasn’t interested in seeing it,” Wozniak says.
“I felt bad for many people I know well who were portrayed wrongly in their interactions with Jobs and the company.”
The film scored a rating of just 26% fresh on film review site Rotten Tomatoes.
