Nokia has announced its Australian release dates for its Lumia 925 smartphone through Telstra, Optus and outright purchase.
The Lumia 925 is a thinner and lighter version of the company’s Lumia 920 flagship smartphone, with a width of 8.5mm compared to 10.7 mm for the 920 and a weight of 139 grams compared to 185 grams for the 920.
The Finnish smartphone giant also promises a new Smart Camera app, allowing photographers to take 10 shots in quick succession with a single click, thicker Gorilla Glass 2, the ability to use the device with gloves or fingernails and thicker glass as key features.
“I believe that Nokia has reinforced its reputation as a major player in smartphone imaging, design and mapping and the Lumia 925 exemplifies the developments Nokia has made in these areas,” Nokia Australia managing director Steve Lewis says.
However, the Windows Phone 8 device also lacks the wireless charging capabilities of its sister phone.
The new device will be available in stores from July 17, Telstra on July 30, Optus presale from July 22 and will begin shipping to Optus customers August 1.
