Technology and electronics giant Samsung has now acquired streaming media group Boxee, the company confirmed yesterday.
“Samsung has acquired key talent and assets from Boxee,” a Samsung spokesperson told Reuters. “This will help us continue to improve the overall user experience across our connected devices.”
Boxee, which is based in Israel, manufactures a set-top box that allows users to access video on the internet and watch recordings on any internet-connected device.
The race for domination in the television space has been heating up. Apple has signalled it wants to increase its power in this area – Samsung’s purchase is no doubt part of a strategy to remain on top.
