Computer manufacturer HP is still keen on getting back into the smartphone business, executives have revealed.
Su-yin Yam, the senior director of HP’s consumer business in the Asia-Pacific, told Indian news agency PTI that the company is indeed working to get back into smartphones, but “I cannot give a timetable”.
“It would be silly if we say no. HP has to be in the game.”
Last year, HP chief executive Meg Whitman also said the company would return to the smartphone market.
The company spent $US1.2 billion on Palm back in 2010, but since then the company’s smartphone strategy has dwindled.
