Free GPS for travellers

We’ve heard of online content and even mobile phone services provided at low or no cost and supported by advertising, and now a company called adNav has come up with a way to do the same thing with GPS devices.

According to Springwise, adNav’s Boomerang personal GPS is designed to work as a kind of mobile concierge for travellers using hotels, airlines and car rental agencies.

The idea is that the traveller will get the handheld GPS device for the period of their trip either free or for a few dollars a day. The cost of the gizmo is then subsidised by selling advertising to businesses, including restaurants, shops and services guides linked to the GPS map.

The GPS device can be customised and branded for whichever hotel or car rental agency provides it with features such as hotel concierge recommendations and constant connectivity to the concierge desk.
