Steel supply company Australian Special Metals has collapsed.
Adam Nikitins from Ernst and Young was appointed as an administrator to ASM this week.
ASM has offices in Brisbane, Mackay and Perth, with the Mackay office only opening last year.
The business was founded in 1962 and its website describes ASM as “Australia’s leading distributor of high strength steels and a quality provider of steel processing services to the mining, construction, earth moving, agricultural, transport, hydraulics, waste, and automotive industries.”
SmartCompany contacted ASM and Ernst and Young but both failed to respond before publication.
A first meeting of creditors will be held in Brisbane on December 20, 2012.
