One of Australia’s most prominent artificial intelligence startups, Leonardo.Ai, has unveiled its highly anticipated enterprise product, after doubling its user base over the past four months to reach 15 million users.
Leonardo.Ai launched in December 2022 and has been growing rapidly after raising a whopping $47 million in December 2023.
The Sydney-based startup specialises in hyperrealistic image generation and initially focused on video games. It has since broadened its reach into other industries such as marketing, fashion and advertising.
The startup said on Wednesday its user base has now ballooned to 15 million, up from seven million in December 2023, and this includes more than 900 businesses that have been using Leonardo.Ai’s customisable platform.
These businesses are operating in the film and entertainment, marketing and creative services, architecture and interior design sectors and will no doubt be among those targeted with the startup’s new Leonardo for Teams product, also unveiled on Wednesday.
The startup describes its first dedicated enterprise product as “an AI-powered suite designed to fuel creative collaboration”, which will allow “multiple creators to work side-by-side and streamline workflows”.
This is done via a single collaborative feed that allows creators to review images and visual assets in real-time, and in turn, reduce time spent on editing and production.
Companies will also be able to privately share fine-tuned models, which can be trained and used by entire teams in line with their existing processes for managing assets.
Leonardo for Teams is in its beta phase and the startup says it has been developed in response to demand from businesses for “efficient, scalable and compliant asset production”. Its models have been trained on fully licensed data, including full attribution to rights-holders, and also offer businesses a copyright indemnification policy.
Its launch marks a “pivotal milestone” in the use of generative AI by businesses, said Leonardo.Ai, and shows how AI is evolving from single-use to broader creative platforms for businesses.
“We believe creativity is central to an enterprise’s success — it’s a key competitive advantage,” said Leonardo.Ai co-founder and chief operating officer Jachin Bhasme in a statement on Wednesday.
“Our enterprise offering brings scale and razor-sharp efficiency to the creative process, enabling major industries to transform their historic approach.
“It’s just the start of what we’re planning for Enterprise, and represents a significant step forward for GenAI, evolving from a tool for individual creators to a commercially robust offering.”
Some six million visual assets are being created every day on the Leonardo.Ai platform, according to the company, and more than one billion unique assets have been completed since the startup was launched.
Alongside the launch of Leonardo for Teams, the startup has also released a host of other new features for its users. These include a transparency tool for generating native transparent PNGs for graphic design applications, as well as print-on-demand.
Leonardo.Ai said more than 3.5 million video clips have been generated using its Motion feature, and the startup is working on its own proprietary foundational model, which will go beyond standard image generation.
