Nokia smartphone marketing exec leaves in shrouded circumstances ahead of Lumia 920 launch

A senior Nokia executive responsible for the company’s smartphone marketing strategy has left the company just weeks before the launch of the company’s flagship Lumia 920 smartphone.

Reuters reports that Ilari Nurmi, who was the company’s vice president of product marketing, has confirmed he has left the smartphone giant.

It is currently unclear whether Nurmi left of his own accord, with the company unwilling to comment on the circumstances of his departure.

The launch of the Windows Phone 8-based Lumia 920 and 820 smartphones are seen as critical to the future success of the company by many analysts.

This comes less than a week after it was revealed the company is putting its corporate headquarters in Espoo, Finland on the market as part of a wider restructuring plan.
