Nokia’s hopes of being the first phone manufacturer to announce a Windows Phone 8 smartphone have been dashed, with Samsung’s announcement of its ATIV S Windows Phone 8 smartphone.
Samsung’s announcement of its ATIV S came just days after Nokia posted a video teasing the launch of its Windows Phone 8 smartphones at a joint press conference with Microsoft on September 5.
According to MyNokiaBlog, Nokia media relations manager Doug Dawson responded to the news by tweeting: “Every great show needs a warm-up act.”
With pressure mounting on Nokia CEO Stephen Elop, the product launch is a make-or-break moment for the Finnish phone giant’s Windows Phone strategy.
