Smartphone accessories are set to bring in $US20 billion in 2012, according to new figures from ABI Research.
That $US20 billion comes out of total industry revenue of $US36 billion, the company says.
But the future isn’t too bright. According to the research, revenue is set to fall to $US12 billion by 2017, with smartphone revenue overall to grow to $US38 billion.
“The increasing penetration of smartphones is driving a shift in accessory design toward smart accessories that drive higher levels of consumer interaction, product value, and brand recognition,” ABI analyst Michael Morgan said in a statement.
