Australia Post is believed to be in negotiations with Telstra over a possible cloud-based storage and secure digital mailbox service, according to reports.
CRN reports that Australia Post is interested in using Telstra’s cloud infrastructure to host the service.
The news comes amid the proliferation of cloud hosting services from a range of vendors, including standalone services such as DropBox, integrated services such as Google Drive and Apple iCloud, as well as the recently announced Commonwealth Bank “secure lockerbox” service.
With its traditional postal business increasingly being eroded through online communications, Australia Post is believed to be keen to increase the number of digital services it offers.
